American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course

American Red Cross. Become a Lifeguard. Register Now.
Dates: May 31, June 1, 2, 8 & 9, 2013
Times: Friday, 4 – 9 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays, noon – 8 p.m.
Cost: $195/member, $215/non-member
Certification Issued: Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

Notes: Our Lifeguard Training Courses are open to both members and guests of the Bellevue club. To enroll in the Lifeguarding course, you must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class session. To participate in the course, you must be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation that includes the following: 300 yard swim of breaststroke and freestyle, tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, and a timed brick-retrieval swim. The prerequisite skills evaluation will occur on the first day of the course. Please bring a swimsuit and towel for the skills evaluation and for every class. To successfully complete the course, you must attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.
Course Materials: Lifeguard Training Participants Manuals are required for each class.  Participants may purchase their own copy or download from the American Red Cross, http://www.redcross.org/take-a-class
